A little about myself

I am Ian Gilkison and I am the former managing director of William Hodge and Pollock Ltd which, in its various guises, served the Scottish courts for over 100 years. I am now a freelance court reporter in Glasgow, offering my services nationwide.

Highly experienced court reporter in Glasgow

I have decades of experience in all the Scottish courts. I also have experience working with local and central government departments, professional disciplinary tribunals, public and private meetings, and I have been extensively involved in transcription from analogue and digital recordings for over 25 years. I was personally called upon, by Sir Steven Young, Sheriff Principal of Grampian, Highlands & Islands, to take shorthand notes in a particularly technical Fatal Accident Inquiry where accurate note-taking was required. No-one in Scotland has more experience in my field.

Available Scotland-wide

I am available as a court reporter in Glasgow, Edinburgh and anywhere in the country, if needed. If I am not available my daughter, a shorthand writer with 20 years’ experience, is available and I also have a network of contactable shorthand writer colleagues.

Testimonial from a regular user of my services

‘We have used Ian Gilkison for a number of years and continue to be impressed with the very professional and prompt service offered in the production of shorthand notes for Licensing Board and Committee meetings. These have proved to be an invaluable resource in the preparation of statements of reasons and in any subsequent appeal cases.’
